Sony accuses Microsoft of wanting to turn Playstation into a Nintendo

While the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft is still evaluated by several regulatory agencies worldwide, Sony continues to use all the tools and arguments they have available to block the business, and the latest accusation of the Japanese company is that the true Microsoft's intention is to turn PlayStation into a Nintendo.

According to Sony, Microsoft would have the real objective of taking from the PlayStation Shooting Games for over 18, and so the quote to Nintendo, which has been noted in recent decades for having consoles that receive a small amount of games aimed at older compared to PlayStation and Xbox.

Sony's accusation was made in a document sent by the company to the UK's competition and market authority, which evaluates Activision Blizzard's purchase by Microsoft and recently expanded the scope of the investigation of the case.

In a 22-page document, Sony also says that the purchase approval could make many players abandon the PlayStation consoles and migrate to Xbox, which would make Microsoft increase the prices of games and services on the console and harm independent producers.

Microsoft states that Nintendo's differentiated model shows that PlayStation does not need Call of Duty to compete effectively. But this reveals Microsoft's true strategy. Microsoft wants PlayStation to become a Nintendo so that it is a less competitor Next and effective Xbox, says Sony in the document. In the end, however, the company's great concern seems to be really related to the fact that the Call of Duty franchise becomes, after the end of current agreements, an exclusive Xbox franchise on the consoles.

PlayStation

The franchise is firmly rooted in players' minds: every Call of Duty game released since 2003 has consistently dominated sales tops. Ignoring these facts, Microsoft argues that Nintendo has been successful even without Call of Duty. This is a false point of view. A vast set of tests shows that Nintendo offers a different experience of Xbox and PlayStation, because it focuses on family games that are very different from games for over 18, such as Call of Duty, complete the Sony.
