Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. (Baltimore, April 12, 1947 - October 1, 2013), better known as Tom Clancy, was an American writer, known for his novels of Espionage and Military Intelligence set in the Cold War and later periods. Seventeen of his novels are best selling and more than 100 million copies of him books have been printed. The name of it also appears on books of military theme, video games and even movie scripts written by Ghost Writers. He has also been a co-owner of Baltimore s Orioles. Clancy s literary career began in 1984, with the publication of the red October hunt. Open works such as the Hunt of October Red (1984), Patriotic Games (1987), clear and imminent danger (1989) and the sum of all fears (1991) have been converted into movies with great commercial success. The best-known character of him, Jack Ryan, has been played by actors such as Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine and John Krasinski. Another well-known character, John Clark, has been incarnated by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber and Michael B. Jordan.
