Hideo Kojima (小島秀夫, Kojima Hideo, August 24, 1963) is a designer and director of Japanese videogames. He was the vice president of Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and is currently in charge of the video game developer team Kojima Productions, a new team dedicated to the creation of creative videogames leaving aside economic and administrative decisions. Hideo Kojima is the creator and director of several successful videogames, including franchises such as Metal Gear, Snatcher and Policeneuts. He has also produced games like Zone of the Enders and Boktai. Considered as an author of videogames, he developed a strong passion for action-adventure and literature during his childhood and adolescence. In 1986, Konami hired him, for which he designed and wrote Metal Gear (1987) for the MSX2, a game that sat the bases of the Stealth Games and the Metal Gear series, the most well-known and appreciated works of him. The title that consecrated him as one of the most acclaimed videogame designers was Metal Gear Solid (1998) for PlayStation. He is also known for producing the Zone of the Enders series, as well as writing and designing Snatcher (1988) and Policeneuts (1994), graphic adventure games considered by his cinematographic presentation. Death Stranding has just been published, but we already have some information about the sales results in terms of sales. The game comes from a famous game director such as Hideo Kojima, but also after some mixed reviews that could have hurt his sales.

So, how did he behave? Although we do not have a global vision at the moment, only three days having passed since the first day, sales in the UK are usually a good indicator of the current situation of video games.

As shared by Gamesindustry International, retail sales were strong enough for Death Stranding, which proved to be the second best launch of a new IP and PlayStation 4 exclusivity in 2019 for the United Kingdom alone. It was defeated only by previous days, which sold 33% additional copies at the launch.
